Nikon 35mm f/1.8G AF-S DX Lens Review

This is a great lens to complement the D40. The key benefit of this over the cheaper Nikon 50mm f/1.8 is that this lens autofocuses on the D40 while the 50mm f/1.8 DOES NOT. The 35mm also allows instant manual-focus override if that is important to you.

If you have a better/more expensive DX camera than the D40/D60 or an FX or film camera, dont bother with this lens, get the 50mm f/1.8 and save seventy smackers.

Bottom line: If you have a D40 or D60, this lens over the 50mm f/1.8 is a no brainer. If you have another model, consider saving money and getting the 50mm which will autofocus on your camera.
